The Brazilian Journal of Global Health (BJGH) reaffirms its commitment to driving and disseminating knowledge as a collective good, with equity and justice, integrating the principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA). In this way, they promote inclusive governance, reaching diverse and historically marginalized audiences. In line with these ideals, BJGH reiterates its efforts aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs/UN), highlighting especially goals 5 - Gender Equality and 10 - Reduced Inequalities. In this context, BJGH commits to:
Actively participate in initiatives aimed at transforming the academic community, aligning it with the values of inclusion, equity, and cultural diversity representation;
Seek comprehensive representation in authorship, editing, and evaluation, considering geographical, institutional, and socioeconomic diversity;
Encourage and welcome contributions from marginalized and diverse populations;
Encourage authors to adopt respectful and inclusive language in their manuscripts, promoting a sensitive approach to differences and equal opportunities;
Guide editors and reviewers to promptly address language that may promote racial, age-related, gender, or any form of discrimination or exclusion bias;
Recommend that authorship base their research and publication on Gender Equity, following the SAGER (Sex and Gender Equity in Research) guidelines and checklists, providing a systematic approach to sex and gender information in research;
Seek representatives from minority groups, including geographical, institutional, and gender diversity, to integrate governance bodies and the reviewer pool;
Monitor and analyze gender indicators in editorial board, authorship, and evaluation;
Encourage and support data collection that allows for the development, measurement, analysis, and management of diversity, equality, inclusion, and accessibility indicators;
Reinforce communication with the editorial board, reviewers, and authors about the importance of adhering to DEIA principles to drive scientific progress.
