Abstract

OBJECTIVE: Evaluate how non-drug therapies provide benefits in the clinical treatment of PCOS. METHODS: Systematic review of articles published between 2019 and 2024 carried out in the PubMed and LILACS. RESULTS: A total of 27 articles were identified. Lifestyle changes (LC) should be the first line of treatment for PCOS: nutritional counseling, engaging in physical activity, avoiding smoking, regulating sleep, and focusing on overall well-being. For overweight women, it is recommended to lose 5 to 10% of body weight and follow a calorie deficit diet. CONCLUSIONS: Non-pharmacological therapies should be studied more in the management of PCOS, as they can improve quality of life.

Keywords: Polycystic ovary syndrome, diet, supplementation.
